Young Elijah Versteeg claims hat-trick of Grantown club snooker trophies
There was no doubting who the star-turn waswhen the silverware was dished out at the Grantown and District Billiards and Snooker Club prizegiving.
Elijah Versteeg claimed a hat-trick of wins in the annual tournaments and could be a force to be reckoned with at the club for a long time to come given that he is just 12 years of age.
Club spokesman Bill Mitchell said: “Elijah is just 12 years old and he has just got it.
“As I look back through the records I practically did the same at that age but in 1952, 1953 and 1954. Well done to Elijah on his success.”
The prizes were handed out on Monday evening by late club legend Jim Redden’s widow, Margaret, at the club’s new venue at the Nethy Bridge Hotel which is proving very popular with members.
Mr Mitchell said: “All of the competitions had been played before then apart from the Moir Cup which was played on the evening itself.

“We are now well settled in the Nethy Bridge Hotel which is very comfortable and nice and warm, and a lot better than our previous venue the old tin kirk at Dulnain Bridge.
“They put on a nice buffet for us at the hotel.
“We also have seven new members since the switch which is good news.”
