Thistle boss Ryan Esson wants rivals to hate their visits to Seafield Park

Jags boss Ryan Esson is calling on his side to turn Seafield Park into a place rivals no longer want to visit.

Esson and his players were left kicking their heels at the weekend when the snowbound Seafield Park pitch meant their home clash with Huntly was not surprisingly postponed.

With the strath still in the grip of the freezing spell, the game was called off on Friday.

In the end, all of Saturday’s fixtures were wiped out by the snow and ice.

The Jags currently sit bottom of the table but are just two points behind Rothes and Lossiemouth with a game in hand.

Esson was left particularly frustrated by the last time out with Thistle lost 4-0 away to Turriff United but squandered a host of great chances at pivotal moments in the game.

He said: “It was a real tough one and it was a game that could have pulled us right back in.

“We are not adrift but we need to get back into the pack and with the games coming up a positive result against Turriff would have put us on the front foot.”

Next up for the Jags is Deveronvale - currently lying in 10th place - at home on Saturday before then hosting Keith (December 7) and Wick Academy (December 14) on consecutive weekends.

Esson said: “We have these home games coming up and we target to win every game at Seafield Park.

“We want to make it a tough place to come.

“We’ve got the new hospitality suite and it’s a really nice place to visit and there is lovely scenery. These teams probably enjoying coming to Grantown.

“Yes, we have nice facilities and, yes, you’ll enjoy your day but you are not going to enjoy the 90 minutes on the pitch.

“That’s the way it has got to be - not to have a laugh and joke and think they will be in for an easy game.

“No chance - I want our mindset to change on that front.”
