First ever LTA Tennis Scotland Club series Fast4 tournament in Grantown is a hit
There were winners from close to home and further afield as Grantown Tennis Club held its first ever LTA Tennis Scotland Club Series doubles tournament.
The ladies winners in the competition held last Sunday morning were Rothiemurchus and Aviemore’s Eve Wilkinson and Kingussie’s Michelle Mccormick.
Claiming victory in the men’s competition run in the afternoon were Strathpeffer’s Stuart Fearn and Duncan Smith, who both play for Inverness Bellfield.
There were 16 competitors in both sections for the Grade 6 Fast4 format which was contested over the best of three sets.
The sets were first to four games and a 10-point tie break if there is a draw after two sets.

Grantown Tennis Club coach Alistair McLeod said: “The tournament went really well and the ladies competition was over-subscribed. We now intend to run another competition later in the year given that it was such a success.
"It is the first time we have run a Fast Four.
“It is an LTA recommendation that clubs do TS Club Series to get more people out and playing with the tournament being held over one day rather than one week. It is a really good format.
“Competitors came from all over the Highlands and a good time was had by all."
The tournament referee was Jane Bradley who said at the trophy presentation at the end of play: "Congratulations to all competitors. There were many closely fought matches played with great spirit.
"We look forward to seeing you back at Grantown for our open which runs from July 31 to August 6."
