Residents at a Grantown care home chose St Andrew’s Day to officially open their new bar.

Friends and relatives gathered at Lynemore Care Home to toast the official unveiling of The Nip Inn by Michelle Anderson, Michelle Currie and Janice Munro, who have worked at Lynemore since it opened in 2018.

It was followed by an afternoon of music and dancing, with entertainment from Grantown-based band The Bicycle Thieves.

The new conservatory bar forms part of a new garden masterplan developed by residents at Lynemore.

In the summer months, the bar will open out into the garden where residents can enjoy a drink and light refreshments with relatives.

Manager Shona Conlin and Parklands Operations Director Elaine Taylor ring the bell at the bar which was officially opened on St Andrews Day.

A new not-for-profit garden shop has also been created, serving a range of toiletries, tissues, sweets and stationery.

Activities co-ordinator Sharon Davies said: “What better way to celebrate St Andrew’s Day than to have the official opening our new bar The Nip Inn. We had a great afternoon singing and dancing.

"We’d like to thank everyone who joined us, especially The Bicycle Thieves for their wonderful entertainment.

"Special thanks also to Yvonne Wooley from the Claymore Bar for kindly gifting us bar accessories and Janet Anderson who donated optics and glassware.”
