Strath on track for another major TV show appearance
The Highland Main Line is now officially one of the world’s most scenic railway journeys.
The journey from Inverness to Edinburgh will star on the Channel 5 TV show of the very same name tomorrow (Friday) narrated by Bill Nighy.
The episode – the first of the second series –will feature Aviemore, the village’s Highland Line Restaurant on the station platform and volunteers from the Strathspey Steam Railway Company.
It is the second time that the strath has featured in a big TV show in a couple of days.
Celebrity chef James Martin's show Islands to Highlands was on ITV yesterday afternoon.
He interviewed reindeer herder Fiona Smith; Kirsten Gilmour, owner of the Mountain Cafe; Emma Norton, of Quad Bike Treks Aviemore; Rothiemurchus laird Johnnie Grant and went whitewater rafting with Active Outdoor Pursuits on the Spey.
In between, Martin, along with chef pal Nick Nairn, rustled up some mouth-watering recipes using local produce.
He took a stroll through the Rothiemurchus pure bred fold of Highland cattle in native pine woods and described it as a magical experience.
Martin filmed in the strath last summer and it is now available on ITV hub.
n The World’s Most Scenic Railway Journeys: A Magical Journey Through the Highlands airs at 8pm on C5 tomorrow.
