New lease of life for award-winning Strathspey hotel
An award-winning boutique hotel in the strath which was forced to close its doors because of the Covid pandemic has been given a new lease of life.
Muckrach Country House on the outskirts of Dulnain Bridge has been converted into a self-catering rural getaway.
It has been taken on by Great North Lodges which currently has 37 holiday properties that they rent out. It becomes the biggest property in their holiday let portfolio.
A company spokesperson said: "The new addition provides clients with an elegant rural getaway in the Highlands.
"To those in search of a staycation worth savouring, Muckrach Country House provides accommodation as glorious as the landscape that surrounds it.
"Every single architectural element has been designed to create a homely and glamourous experience.
"The house accommodates 22 guests and features 11 luxury en-suite bedrooms, a private bar with a piano, luxury kitchen, library, barbecue and a hot tub."
The company said Muckrach Country House was built in 1860 and was originally a shooting lodge for the Clan Grant.
The hotel was forced to close in September, last year, due to Covid-19 for the foreseeable future but failed to reopen.
The owners the Cowap family stated at the time: “During this very difficult and challenging time, we have restructured our business to enable us to slowly and safely, get back to where we want to be.”
They spent well over a year and invested significant funds restoring the Victorian shooting lodge to its previous glory.
