Aviemore Primary School children will join TV's Jane McDonald in a festive celebration to be screened tomorrow night.

‘Jane McDonald’s Highland Christmas’ airs on Channel 5 at 9pm.

The star said: "I enjoyed some wonderful festive traditions as I explored the Scottish Highlands.

"Along with my best mate, Sue, we began the trip with a tour of the sights – and wow, it really was stunning.

"We tried whisky tasting – just a few tipples – lovely; bauble making and joined a children’s choir for carols by candlelight."

McDonald came ‘cruising’ into Aviemore a month looking for someone to sing carols with – and the children could not wait!

Teacher Gael Tannock-Josey explained at the recording: “Jane McDonald was looking for a choir for a Channel 5 Christmas Special. Sandra McIntyre and I said ‘yes’!

“Jane wanted to sing Away in a Manger and Jingle Bells with the choir, made up of 24 P4-7 pupils – it was the first time they had come together since Covid regulations were lifted and they were very excited.

“They asked us to stage a Christmas carol concert and we made an appeal to parents and the local community to support us and we had a tremendous turn-out.

"It was a fantastic experience for the children to be a part of the filming process.

“Jane thanked us and the choir for all our hard work, and the community for coming out to support the performance and supporting her show.

"She was very friendly and warm.”
