High Life Highland is informing gym users in Aviemore that the facility is open as usual.

It follows HLH earlier this week ending the use of the online booking system for one hour slots at the gym which had been in operation because of the Covid pandemic

But the move seems to have left some users unsure if the gym has been open leading to lower than usual numbers in recent days.

A HLH spokeswoman said: "The gym is very much open and we are looking forward to seeing all our regulars and new users. There is no longer any requirement to book gym sessions, however, classes still need to be booked online using the usual link.

"Our team is here to support our users in their health and fitness journeys and anyone can contact us with any queries or feedback on our Covid-19 protocols or these latest changes."

More normal service resumed on Wednesday at the Aviemore Community Centre facility as Covid-19 restrictions eased even further.

There is no longer any restrictions on the duration of work-out sessions in the gym and the changing rooms, showers and water fountains are available for the first time in 18 months.

More of the equipment is back in use after easing of social distancing.

The Skill Mill, Ski-erg and back extension bench are back in use in the gym after being removed during the pandemic.

Gym users will now revert to checking in at reception.

Some Covid protocols still remain in place including encouraging gym users to regularly sanitise their hands during work-outs and they also still need to wipe down the equipment before and after use.

The functional gym is also remaining in the centre's studio from 3pm to 8pm Monday to Friday.

The community centre is also home to the village's library and HLH has confirmed that it will re-open on Monday.

The centre has just announced its new programme with an expanded offering for youngsters.

There is a new partnership with Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC delivering P1-P7 football on Tuesdays for one hour sessions with discount for all inclusive members.

Young Lifters is a new class for 11 to 17-year-olds who would like to learn to lift weights safely, improve physique and confidence.

The complex is closed on Sundays.
