The Inverness ice skating club sent three teams to the competition last weekend when they took on some top teams from Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and Switzerland.

In the adult category, Highland narrowly missed out on a medal but still put in a great performance to finish in fourth.

The team - which is led by Aviemore rink-based coach Amanda Clinton and features local skaters Genevieve Cassidy and Ellie Macleod - came away with a personal best score due to their fantastic display.

Aurora also narrowly missed out on a medal when they finished in fourth place in the Basic Novice category.

However, they did earn a new personal best score.

Northern Lights skated in a large mixed age category and earned eighth place as they also achieved a season’s best score.

Ms Clinton said: “I am proud of the way our teams skated in Milan.

“They all looked like they were having the time of their lives during the competition and the put out their best performances of the season.”

The teams have used Aviemore rink to practice a few times over last few months and a number of the skaters are currently having lessons in the village as the Inverness rink is closed for three months.
