A9 Dual Action Group appealing ‘only travel if absolutely necessary!’
As expected conditions today on the A9 through Badenoch have been treacherous. The A9 Dual Action Group has posted continual appeals for motorists to stay at home if at all possible.
This afternoon’s post urged: “Many routes now becoming particularly hazardous if not completely impassable.
“Traffic is at a standstill on Drumochter.
“The snowgates will likely be being closed on rural routes.
“Please stay safe and if your journey isn’t absolutely essential then please stay at home.”
One car with no snow tyres was stuck on the road just north of the Dalwhinnie snow gates.
“Police are on scene doing alternate convoys so you can still get through, but blizzard conditions and we’re at 10mph permanently now…”
”We suggest you don’t drive this stretch of the A9 without snow tyres.”
Further south, Traffic Scotland has posted that the road is partially blocked at Dalguise.
Head south from Kincraig, traveller Alison Freshwater told the Strathy: “It’s much better south of Drumochter- not too bad from House of Bruar south, although only one lane of the dual carriageway open each way around Bankfoot.
“There’s deep snow in the other lane.”
“The A9 is partially blocked due to a broken down vehicle,” posted Traffic Sco Motorists are advised to approach with caution and expect longer than normal journey times.”
