The Strathy understands that the Caledonian sleeper service heading to Inverness has halted in Badenoch following a fire alarm.
Passengers have evacuated the train and are having alternative travel arrangements put in place by the operator.
It's understood there are also problems with the engine, according to eye witnesses at the station.
"The service was abandoned here this morning at 9am," said another. "We are hearing reports of passengers been woken through the night by fire alarms and then the locomotive failing.
"You feel sorry for these people as it is not a cheap service."
More information as it comes in.
