Inverness supermarket evacuated after fire alert

By Claire Doughty

HUNDREDS of shoppers were evacuated from a city supermarket this afternoon (Friday) following a false alarm.

Two appliances from Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service attended the Millburn Road site.

Customers were left standing outside for around 10 minutes whilst firefighters did a sweep of the store.

One customer who alerted the Highland News through Twitter said: "The sensible thing seemed to be to leave my trolley. Shoppers were outside for 10 minutes. There were two fire engines."
