Calum Fraser with his certificate

A CITY Boys Brigade member, Calum Fraser from the 3rd Inverness (Crown) group, was among the latest young officers from across Scotland to graduate from the King George VI officer training course.

Eighteen young officers gathered at Dornoch Cathedral on Saturday for the occasion.

Proud parents and existing officers and members were welcomed by Rev Susan Brown and the cathedral congregation to celebrate with a pre-ceremony buffet and a presentation of personal memories and songs from the two year course.

Presenting the cadets with their certificates, Lord Lieutenant of Sutherland, Dr Monica Main, remarked on the commitment they had shown in achieving their goal.

It was amazing to think, she said, that the average length of membership amongst the cadets was already over 14 years.

Brigade director of Scotland, Bill Stevenson, described the event as “a tremendous showcase” for the camaraderie of the cadets which proves the organisation is in good hands and going from strength to strength.
