NAIRN County face a real test of their Highland League credentials this week.

Last night (Wednesday), Nairn were due to face leaders Keith at Station Park and on Saturday they travel to face fourth placed Inverurie Locos.

And manager Les Fridge knows the games will be a good challenge for his side.

He said: “Locos can be a bit up and down at the moment, but playing them through there is always a hard game.”

Locos go into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw against Cove Rangers last weekend.

Fridge commented: “On Saturday, they’ll be wanting to get some sort of reaction from their players from that.

“We’ve just got to keep playing with confidence and the way we have been playing.

“I think apart from the first half last Saturday we have been playing very well.”

Nairn should be in a confident mood for this week’s games after coming from behind to record a 3-2 home win over Fraserburgh last Saturday.

Fraserburgh had been leading 1-0 until the 72nd minute but Craig Campbell then hit a quick-fire hat-trick for Nairn to give them the points.

Fridge said: “It was a very good result, but I didn’t think we played as well as we have been playing.

“In the first half we were the poorest we’ve been in a while, but we came back into it in the second half and Craig scored three really good goals.

“I think if you’ve not played as well as you can but still win, that’s good.

“We were still creating chances in the first half and had the two clearest chances of the game at that time.

“But when we got the penalty it definitely gave us a huge lift and I knew we’d go on and win,” he added.

Shaun Kerr and Scott Barlow are still unavailable for Nairn due to work commitments, while Glen Main missed the Keith game through suspension, and Dale Gillespie suspension keeps him out of the Inverurie match as well.
