A TOP Scottish comedian has appealed to locals in Thurso to put on their biggest smiles and volunteer to raise funds for a dementia charity.

Craig Hill has given his backing to Alzheimer Scotland’s biggest-ever fundraising campaign – The BIG collection.

The Scottish charity, along with the Alzheimer’s Society, has the opportunity to raise £350,000 in just two days at Tesco stores across the UK – and the firm’s Millbank store is one of those taking part.

To achieve the cash target the organisations involved want 10,000 volunteers nationally to help collect money on Friday, May 27, and Saturday, May 28.

Together, the Alzheimer’s Society and Alzheimer Scotland are Tesco Charity of the Year 2011. The money raised through the collection and the partnership will help support people with dementia and make sure people don’t face the devastating disease alone.

Alzheimer Scotland supporter Hill said: "Please help Alzheimer Scotland to keep doing the amazing job they do for 82,500 people suffering with dementia in Scotland by giving a couple of hours of your time to help with The BIG collection. It’ll make a BIG difference!"
