Motorists facing lengthy diversion in Laggan area from tonight
Road users are being warned of night time road closures on two trunk roads in the south of Badenoch from later today (Thursday) until after the weekend
Resurfacing works are being carried out to the A86 Newtonmore–Fort William route at Ardverikie and the A889 Laggan–Dalwhinnie road at Cathar Mor.
The closure of the A86 at the location will mean lengthy diversions for any motorists who are caught out via Spean Bridge and Inverness.
The repairs start on the road from Drumgask to Moy Bridge, and will be carried out until Saturday daily between 9pm and 6am. Works will involve the renewal of the existing road surface and road markings.
Bear Scotland has said the sections will be closed to protect the workforce and travelling public.
Following on from these works, resurfacing will be carried out overnight on the A889 at Cathar Mor on both weekend day with the road closed from 8pm to 6am.
Diversions will be via Dalwhinnie, the Ralia, Newtonmore and Drumgask junctions.
Bear Scotland’s spokesman for the north west unit, Eddie Ross said: "We understand that road closures will result in some short-term inconvenience for road users but these are required to provide a safe working environment for the workforce due to the narrow road widths at this location.
"We urge drivers pay attention to the traffic measures and temporary signage during the works and to plan ahead before starting their journey."
