Badenoch capital will be open to all with plenty going on

The Christmas spirit builds in Kingussie from Sunday as the Badenoch capital moves festively into December.

It has become a modern tradition now as the season begins to see the town basically stay open for business through the afternoon and there are all sorts of delights lined up from noon.

The afternoon even includes the return of the famous ‘tartiflette’ - a little cheesy piece of Gallic heaven - which will be teasing the Gaelic tastebuds in the square outside the council, offices right from the start of Kingussie Shopping Sunday, confirms the team at ARC (the Am Fashgadh Regeneration Company).

More irresistible fare is promised by the Badenoch Ladies Shinty Club, who just a little further up the High Street will be setting up their home-baking stall outside post office.

As ever, the public are promised a wide variety of home baked cakes.

At the other end of the town the doors will be open all afternoon at the Old Telephone Exchange courtesy of the local Men’s Shed Association.

Spokesman Colin Whitton told the Strathy: “As locals may know already, we are negotiating the use of the old exchange in Duke Street, for conversion into a workshop and social area. We aim to use Sunday to let everyone know and to get them all involved in developing this vital facility for the community.”

Over the road at the Iona Gallery the annual Christmas exhibition will be open, featuring fabulous arts and crafts from the Society of Badenoch and Strathspey Artists - with cake!
