Kingussie now boasts the country’s Hotel of the Year.

At the Good Hotel Guide Awards ceremony last night (Tuesday october 11), The Cross at Kingussie was given the accolade.

The hotel only recently attained Three AA Rosette status.

Scottish Hotel of the Year is one of the Good Hotel Guide’s 10 César Awards which are given to those hotels who outperform the competition throughout the UK in their category.

The accolades include Country House Hotel of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Seaside Hotel of the Year and Scottish Hotel of the Year.

Named after César Ritz who was the most celebrated hotelier, these awards are renowned for being the Oscars of hotel-keeping.

"It is extremely exciting and an honour to be named Scottish Hotel of the Year" said co-owner Derek Kitchingman.

"We strive to exceed expectations with our fine dining and service levels but are only too aware of the high standard around us in the Scottish hospitality industry.

"It is a great achievement to have been named the best and it’s the result of a much hard work and dedication by our wonderful team here.

"To help celebrate the title and the recent three AA rosette status, we’re offering diners who choose my Signature Tasting Menu from now until 10 December a complimentary glass of fizz."
