Badenoch floods abate for train service
After the gales and torrential rains led to wholesale cancellations for rail passengers between Inverness, Perth and the south, ScotRail's latest website is showing normal service has been resumed.
Due to heavy rain flooding the railway between Kingussie and Aviemore all lines were closed yesterday (Saturday, January 11).
"Disruption is expected until the end of the day" the passengers were warned.
Services between Edinburgh and Inverness were cancelled, delayed or terminated at and started back from Perth.
The company has been dealing with heavy flooding between Kingussie and Aviemore, with staff reporting that water levels were too high to allow safe operation of the trains.
The only alternative train route for those travelling between Perth and Inverness was via Aberdeen, adding approximately two hours to the journey.
But today the red warning signs were all removed from the ScotRail route map, with normal times of departure and arrival at the strath's stations restored to the website.
