Aviemore man’s ‘vile’ behaviour included punching ex-partner on head
An Aviemore man took exception to his then partner asking him if he had taken drugs and he punched her on the head.
Inverness Sheriff Court heard that the assault took place on a date between September 7 and 10 last year at 43 year old Steven Mullan's home in Munro Place.
Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that around a week later, Mullan posted a photograph of the woman in what appeared to be her underwear on his social media page.
Mullan previously pleaded guilty to posting the image without consent and the assault and sentence had been deferred for a background report.
Defence solicitor advocate Clare Russell said that the woman was wearing either a sports bra or a crop-top and her client had been ‘reckless’.
But Sheriff Macdonald deemed his action as ‘vindictive’ and ordered Mullan to carry out 110 hours of unpaid community work and to take part in a rehabilitation programme for male domestic abusers.
She also imposed a two year long non-harassment order to protect his victim and for him to be under social work supervision for the same period.
The Sheriff told Mullan: "This was vile behaviour towards an ex-partner. You have a poor attitude towards women."
