A9 traffic blocked in both directions after road crash
Air ambulances are attending a Badenoch road crash.
Emergency services were called to the A9/A86 overpass at Ralia, just south of Newtonmore, at 5.10 this afternoon.
"All lanes are restricted in both directions," alerted Traffic Scotland.
Details of the incident are still awaited from the authorities but Police Scotland have confirmed two vehicles were involved.
"The A9 at Newtonmore is currently closed in both directions due to a road traffic incident," stated the Traffic Scotland website.
"Motorists are advised to expect longer than normal journey times and use an alternative route at this time.
"Expect Delays."
Traffic is currently being diverted through Kingussie to the north of the crash scene.
Traffic Scotland has posted the following diversions:
Northbound Traffic - Turn left at A889 junction at Dalwhinnie onto the A889 and follow the road until Drumgask Farm – Turn right onto the A86 and continue on the road until A9 junction at Kingussie. Distance: 19.6 miles.
Southbound Traffic - Turn right onto the A86 and follow the road until Drumgask Farm – Turn left onto the A889 and continue on the road until A9 junction at Dalwhinnie. Distance: 19.6 miles
