Carrbridge villagers despair at ‘more serious’ destruction of second cardboard copper
Carrbridge has lost its cardboard cop again.
A month ago the first ‘officer’ was attacked, but this time it would appear that ‘young vandals’ might not be suspected.
Word on the street is that the attack on the cardboard traffic calmer was something more serious.
Villager Dave Mackenzie posted: “It’s hard to believe someone would do this.
“I hope they are not from the village and this time it isn’t the youngsters as some strong arms did this.
“I will check my garden camera when we get back to see what it shows.”
Villagers in the vicinity of the extended pavement on Carrbridge’s Main Street are still concerned about speeds through the area and remain unconvinced about the measure taken by the authorities.
While the jut-out pavement slows traffic coming towards it from one direction, it can encourage others to speed up to get through it quicker.
Either way, the aim of the cardboard cop was to catch the eye of motorists on their way through.
The ‘policeman’ had a very beady eye which certainly did the trick with some drivers.
It’s not known yet just what the villagers’ next move will be but comments have flowed in on social media from disappointed locals.
Chris Douglas observed: “That's been cut with a saw on both sides and then broken off.”
Community council chairman Stewart McNeish commented: “The world is full of idiots any we unfortunately have some.”
“Just being bad - what do they gain?” asked Hilary Shorter.
Carol Turnbull reported: “There was a guy looking closely at him when we passed about 12.30pm”
Former local cop Pete Carson commented: “It’s truly mindless vandalism - nothing to gain. Sad.”
