Detectives are appealing for information following last night’s break-in at Kingussie’s Co-operative shop.

The incident took place around 11.30pm.

Extensive enquiries are ongoing and it has been established that three men in balaclavas and dark clothing were seen in the area, before leaving on foot northwards up the High Street.

Detective Inspector Andy Bilton said: “We are keeping an open mind regarding any links to similar break-ins reported in recent days.

“We’d like to thank members of the community for their assistance so far and would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact us. We're also keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area that may assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 3962 of 3 July, 2025.

Following Strathy enquiries about another Co-op story broken into further north Detective Inspector Gavin Fleming said: “We received a report of a break-in at a retail premises in Fife Street, Dufftown, which took place around 1.10am.

“Enquiries are at an early stage.”

It’s understood an ‘open mind’ is being kept on any link between the Dufftown and Kingussie incidents but a link to the Newtonmore Co-op raid is not believed to be connected.
