ScotRail says a broken down train on the Highland Mainline will cause “major disruption” for passengers through this morning.

Some services between Inverness and Edinburgh and Glasgow will be delayed or cancelled through to at least 9 am.

The 06:53 service between Perth and Glasgow Queen Street developed a fault north of Gleneagles, blocking the line towards Stirling.

The 05:36 Inverness to Glasgow train, due into Queen Street Station at 08:56 will now terminate at Perth, no longer calling at Stirling or Glasgow Queen Street.

All other services on the line face potential disruption and passengers are being advised to check their journeys before travelling.
